ANNOUNCER: Can’t get to the gym? Don’t sweat it! Your home is a great place to work out! You can even use everyday objects in place of gym equipment.

Lisa Witzer, Nutritionist/Personal Trainer: You could just use household products, such as cans of soup. You could use some water containers filled with either sand or water and you could do basic movements with them. You could do some shoulder presses, some biceps curls. You could even hold them and do some types of squats and lunges, just some basic movements around the house. You could even just hold a towel against a doorknob and do some squats.

Lisa Witzer, Nutritionist/Personal Trainer: You’re going to take a chair, put your hands on it, feet out, you’re going to bring yourself down – and up – slow and controlled.

ANNOUNCER: According to the centers for disease control and prevention, 62 percent of adults do not exercise at all. But adding exercise to your day doesn’t have to be difficult.

Lisa Witzer, Nutritionist/Personal Trainer: Exercise should be incorporated into your everyday life. It could be as simple as parking further away from the store or from work, taking the stairs instead of the elevator. It’s not where you work out, but it’s that you do work out that’s important.

ANNOUNCER: Thanks for joining us on today’s Once Daily!
